Ruma Guha Thakurta was married twice, first to Kishore Kumar from 1951 until their divorce in 1958 and then to Arup Guhathakurta from 1958 until his death in 2004. She had three children, including Amit Kumar. Ruma was also related to the famous filmmaker Satyajit Ray, being his niece.
